Tim Richardson
Tim is an online news junkie with strong new media journalism sensibilities and an interest in anything webby. He’s been a new media editor at award-winning news websites for 12 years.
Tim is the digital managing editor at The Washington Examiner, where he leads efforts to use digital media to provide the latest local and national news to an audience in Washington and around the country.
Previously, he was the new media managing editor of the Las Vegas Sun, overseeing daily news coverage on LasVegasSun.com and guiding a team of Web-focused reporters who use breaking news and multimedia to engage and inform the Las Vegas Valley’s 2 million residents.
Before arriving in Las Vegas, Tim was the editor of the newly created product development team at Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive in Washington, D.C. In addition to producing a variety of videos and audio podcasts for washingtonpost.com, Tim served as the editor of a suburban website while overseeing day-to-day coverage of the Washington Post’s first aggressive push into hyperlocal journalism.
Prior to arriving in the nation’s capital, Tim served as the new media managing editor at NaplesNews.com, the website of the Naples (Fla.) Daily News. Tim coordinated daily news coverage on the Web and conducted interviews for a daily television program and a news podcast.
Tim got his start in the capital city of Kansas. After a stint with the Associated Press covering the Kansas Legislature, he served as the first online news editor of the Topeka Capital-Journal. He coordinated frequent news updates and determined what stories could best be enhanced with video, audio or other multimedia.
Tim is a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and minors in Spanish and economics.
